Authentic Learning Event: Making a Music Video
Students & parents are invited to the video launch at "Oakademy Awards"!
Idea Gallery at the bottom of the page
Dear Parents,
Your child has an amazing opportunity of creating a remake of a popular music video, "Alive" by Australian pop/rock band Empire of the Sun.
Students will be introduced to all elements of the video making medium as they will participate in all aspects of the filming of this video. They will act,
participate in camera work and filming technique using iPads, editing, set design, dancing, drama, storyboards, special effects and marketing to name
a few.
Students will have an opportunity to be in the video and an image release form will be sent home for your permission to do so. The goal is to release
the video on You Tube and other popular video sites to maximize viewing hits. The form will provide the following options:
1.) I give my permission to allow (your child's) image to be videoed and uploaded onto social media.
2.) I give my permission to allow (your child's) masked (covered) image to be filmed and uploaded onto social media.
3.) I do not wish that my child's image to be filmed. (Students will be part of lighting, recording and other duties to remain part of the team's goal).
Students are responsible to:
1.) Know their "Alive" lyrics. (Feb. 3)
2.) Create a costume, headdress or headpiece, wrist, neck or arm decorations (please see Empire of the Sun videos for ideas) (Feb. 5)
3.) Bring a zipper bag pouch, paper folder to use as their "Alive" portfolio" (Feb. 5)
4.) Create a 10 to 20 sec. video at home (mpg) of rehearsing in or out of costume or creating their costume. Send to [email protected] (Feb. 9)
5.) Bring in video consent forms (2) and Walking field trip form (Thursday Feb. 18)
6.) Keep up with daily homework
Music Video - An Authentic Learning Journey
As well, Mr. Revington is creating a video following the making of this project as an authentic learning model to teach other educators.
A similar permission form will be sent home at the same time.
More information will be coming on scheduling and planning.
We will need the support of parents for many aspects of making the video. If you know of someone who is a videographer, editor or media person who may
be able to provide resources or marketing support please let me know. We are looking to film some scenes using a Go Pro and drone to create some novel
camera shots. We will also be needing help with make-up costumes, set designs and prop ideas. Any ideas or help will be appreciated.
Please forward me an email: [email protected]
